Caterpillars
Create fun caterpillar treats in just 20 minutes with Rice Krispies® cereal, marshmallows, and butter. Melt marshmallows and butter—microwave or stove both work—then mix in 6 cups of cereal and press in a pan. Once cool, cut into circles for segments and shape into caterpillars. Use icing for the antennae, eyes, feet, and spots. This recipe is tested with Kellogg’s® products—always check labels for allergens.
- Uses 6 cups Rice Krispies® cereal, marshmallows, butter, and optional vanilla extract.
- Two melting methods: microwave for 3 minutes or use a stovetop on low heat.
- Shape cooled cereal mix into caterpillar sections using a small round cutter.
- Decorate caterpillars with icing for antennae, eyes, feet, and spots.

Ingredients
- 1.5 L (6 cups)
Rice Krispies® cereal
- 50 mL (1/4 cup)margarine or butter
- 250 g (1 pkg)(about 40) regular marshmallows or 5 cups miniature
- 2 mL (1/2 tsp)vanilla extract (optional)
Directions
Microwave Method:
- In a large microwave safe bowl, heat margarine and marshmallows at HIGH for 3 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes.
- Stir in vanilla. Stir in Kellogg's® Rice Krispies® cereal until well coated. Using lightly buttered spatula, press into buttered 3.5 L (13 x 9") pan.
- Allow mixture to cool slightly. Make caterpillar sections, using small round cookie cutter, cut cereal into circles. Place eight to nine sections next to each other to form the caterpillar. Decorate with icing to make antennae, eyes, feet, and spots on the caterpillar.
Stove Top Method:
- Melt margarine in large saucepan over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted.
- Follow steps 2 and 3 above.
