mardi gras party

Mardi Gras Carnivale Party

Decorations:

Celebrate Mardi Gras at the end of February or any time of the year! Decorate with Purple, Gold and Green balloons, streamers and strands of beads! The decorations can be as over-the-top as you like.

Food Suggestions:

Serve some Southern Style comfort food, like Crispy Chicken, Potato Salad, or even Jambalaya.

Rice Krispies* Treat:

Try a twist on the Mardi Gras classic, King's Cake. Prepare the classic recipe or Chewy Chocolate Rice Krispies* recipe and press into individual bundt pans that are lined with plastic wrap (it'll make them extra easy to remove). Hide a jelly bean inside one of the cakes. Decorate the cakes with purple, gold and green icing, sprinkles or even edible gold dust! Reward the bean finder with strands of beads of course!

Games Activities:

As kids arrive, give them each a few strands of beads and let them decorate a half mask with sparkles, feathers and sequins to wear during the party.

PASS THE BABY
Played like hot potato. But instead they pass around a plastic doll. Reward the last one sitting with another strand of beads.

CARNIVALE WHEEL
Take a spin at winning beads. Create a wheel of fortune where you complete the task you land on to win beads. An example is eating 5 Brussel sprouts to win 2 strands of beads.

TARGET SPIN
Like Pin the Tail on the Donkey, but with a target instead. The closer you are to the bulls-eye the more strands of beads you win.

Goody Bags:

Have a variety of items on hand. Different kinds of candies, small stuffed animals and other party favours are all great options. Let each kid trade in their strands of beads for items.

Remember:

You may want to invite kids to arrive in colourful costumes.
