Rice Krispies® Original Squares Microwave Version

Quickly make Rice Krispies® Original Squares with your microwave. Melt marshmallows and butter in a microwave-safe bowl for 2-3 minutes, stirring until smooth. Blend in vanilla and add Rice Krispies® cereal, mixing until coated. Press into a greased pan, cool the mix for 5-10 minutes, then cut into 12 bars. For extra gooey treats, add 1/2 cup more marshmallows or use a smaller pan for thicker squares. Always check labels for allergens and use Kellogg's® products for best results.

Ingredients
- 50 ml or 1/4 cup
margarine or butter
- 1.25 L or 5 cups
miniature or 40 regular (250 g pkg) marshmallows
- 2 ml or 1/2 tsp
vanilla extract
- 1.5 L or 6 cups
Directions
1. Lightly grease a 9x13” pan. Line with parchment paper for easy removal. Set aside.
2. Add the marshmallows and butter to a large microwave safe bowl. Microwave on HIGH for 2-3 minutes or until melted, stir until smooth.
3. Stir in the vanilla extract and add the Rice Krispies® cereal. Stir until well coated and empty the bowl into the prepared pan. Press into the pan using a lightly buttered spatula. Allow them to cool for 5-10 minutes before cutting into bars.

Recipe Notes
For extra gooey treats add an extra ½ cup of marshmallows.
Microwaving in intervals prevents the marshmallow from quickly overcooking and becoming rock hard.
Making this recipe in a smaller pan makes the squares thicker and gooier.
